Patrick Arthur Hewitt, 67, of Upper St. Clair, PA, formerly of New Cumberland, PA, passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2025. Born on February 18, 1958, in Carlisle, PA, he is the son of Shirley Hewitt and the late Royce O. Hewitt.
Beloved husband of 38 years to Jennifer Hewitt; Loving father to Michael A. Hewitt and Carlie L. Hewitt; Brother to Donald O. (Janet) Hewitt, Thomas A. (Susan) Hewitt, and Barbara A. (Duane) VanEtten; He is also survived by cherished nieces and nephews.
Patrick proudly served four years in the United States Army in the Judge Advocate General's Corps. He was initially attached to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), including a tour as a member of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in the Sinai. Later, he served in the Government Appellate Division and was selected as Military Liaison to the Office of the Solicitor General and admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. Following his military career, he became a founding partner of the Mt. Lebanon law firm Riley, Hewitt, Witte & Romano, P.C. He brought wisdom and dedication to every case and colleague he encountered.
An active and beloved member of the Upper St. Clair and South Hills communities, he served six years on the Upper St. Clair School Board including time as its President. Quality education for all youth was a passion for him. A quiet man of deep faith, he was a dedicated member of St. John Capistran Church.
A passionate golfer, he was a longtime member of Valley Brook Country Club, where he served three terms as President and built lifelong friendships. He was known for his kindness, integrity, and humility, and as a devoted husband, father, and friend.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 AM on September 23, 2025 at St. John Capistran Church (Resurrection Parish), 1610 McMillan Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15241. Everyone please meet at the church. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately at Valley Brook Country Club. Burial with full military honors will take place privately at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Theresa Parish, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070. Please annotate contributions to reference the Patrick Hewitt Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will provide tuition assistance to St. Theresa School students based on financial need.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to AHN Hospice nurses Maria and Kayla, whose compassionate care brought great comfort, and to the dedicated staff of Floor 9A at Allegheny General Hospital for their exceptional support. All arrangements entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care.
