Dr Patrick Edward Hurley ObituaryDr. Patrick Edward Hurley passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by family, friends, and his devoted caregivers.
Born on May 12, 1958, in St. Paul, MN, he was adopted six days later by Edward and Sandy Hurley. He was preceded in death by both his parents and is survived by his wife, Paula; daughters Dr. Meghan Hurley (Dr. Blake Hines) and Caitlin (Blake) Montpetit; grandchildren Ruby and Griffin Hines; step-grandchildren Brent, Ava and Siena Montpetit; and sister Katherine (John) Solatto.
Pat grew up in Deephaven, MN, and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1976. He earned his degree in Biology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. After his undergraduate studies, he joined the United States Air Force and was accepted into medical school at Des Moines University Medicine & Health Sciences. Upon graduation, he went on active duty and began a three-year Family Practice residency at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
He later served as a Family Practice physician at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado, where he became a Flight Surgeon and headed the USAFA Aerospace Medicine Department. Pat continued his medical training with an Orthopedic Surgery residency at Texas Tech University Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
Following 13 years as an Air Force physician, Pat joined a civilian orthopedic practice in Alexandria, MN, where he cared for patients for the next 20 years.
Pat loved skiing, biking, hunting, fishing, and simply being outdoors. He loved spending time with family and friends and traveled the world. Diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's, he faced his final chapter with the support of his family and friends.
A visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Deephaven, MN, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
