Pat Lasco will forever be remembered as a very dear friend, and, the Godfather of my career in hairdressing. I cherish the exposure he shared with me to show me the way to embrace the Cosmetology Industry as a lifeline, and, foundational experience for creating that next level of my career toward fulfillment. My parents, Laddie, and, Lorraine Vanek, introduced me to Pat Lasco, when they noticed I had a yearning to become a hairdresser, because I would not stop playing with my hair in front of a mirror. Hairdresser was the term at the time. My mom, Lorraine, was one of Pat´s loyal customers, at Mr. Patrick´s Coiffure´s in Westchester, on 22nd Street, for years, and, then, she followed him to the location on Mannheim Road, across from George´s Service Station, and, became a receptionist at the salon over time. I started working as an apprentice at the age of 12, in March of 1974. And, I gradually worked my way into a part time job as a shampoo girl. Those were the days! Pat´s presence, (always, Mister Patrick, to me), served, as a homey, fun, and, full of life personality, even when he was serious. He reminded me, that the second I walked out onto the floor, in the salon, I needed to be on point, and, professional!!! I learned, over time, that it was second nature all around, between home, and, the salon. I will carry that with me the rest of my life!!!
I remember Pat´s Clown costumes. And, more recently I shared several old photographs from the salon, with Pat, that I found in some old photo albums. One of the pictures was Pat in a clown costume, from Halloween while he was working behind the chair at the salon. * When he saw the pictures, he was so awed, because he doesn´t recall ever seeing any pictures of the salon, and, he loved it! So grateful to give him a laugh!! The last time I saw Pat, we were able to pick up right where we left off in our conversation, from back when. We reconnected again about 2 years ago. He was so full of life, and, couldn´t wait to tell me the latest joke he heard. I could write a book. It´s been 50 plus years! Thank you Pat Lasco!
In love, and, prayer to the Patrick Lasco family!

One of my fondest memories as a child is when Pat & Arlene asked me to join them on a family vacation. It was something I never experienced with my family, so it was truly exciting for me. It was so special to me I remember it like it was yesterday....every day of it, and it was almost 60 years ago.
Thank you Pat and Arlene for your generosity and kindness, and for a beautiful childhood memory that I will forever cherish. May you rest in peace.
