Patrick S. Mahoney

Patrick S. Mahoney of Rutland, MA passed away on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 after a motor vehicle accident in Worcester. He was 25 years old.      Patrick is survived by his loving parents, Christopher and Brigitte E. (Arnold) Mahoney of Rutland; his two brothers, Kevin R. Mahoney of Rutland and Matthew K. Mahoney of Arlington, MA; his sister, Daniela Slovin, her husband Jonathan of Rutland; his nephews Corey and Joshua of Rutland; his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Rose Mahoney of Hopkinton; his caring aunts, uncles and cousins.      Patrick lived most of his childhood in Worcester, attending Norrback Avenue School, until moving to Rutland, MA in 2000, where he finished primary school. He went on to graduate from Wachusett Regional High School in 2010. Growing up, he loved playing with his brothers and friends - everything from basketball, hockey, baseball and swimming, to playing video games on the latest Nintendo device or his computer.      Patrick had a creative side. He loved having his wildest ideas recorded on an old VHS camcorder - a child actor, video game reviewer and director. He wrote his own comic books and short stories. He enjoyed playing the drums and co-wrote a song, "Gone Fishing" - about putting responsibilities aside for a day and enjoying what is most important in life.      Patrick graduated from Worcester State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. He loved to listen, read, discuss and debate philosophical ideas with his friends and family. He took up disc golfing as a way to enjoy sport and nature - his favorite course being Barre Falls Dam Disc Golf course. When he wasn't active in mental thought or physical activity, he was relaxing to progressive and indie rock. He enjoyed watching the Celtics with his father, Twitch streams with his cousins and concerts with his friends.      Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, April 15, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; followed by a Memorial Service at 6 p.m.     In lieu of flowers, donations: https://www.actionagainsthunger.org/
