Patrick "Pat" McCloskey, a man of devout faith and unwavering love, has been called to his eternal home. Born in the heart of Philadelphia, PA, Pat's journey began on earth and, after a life rich with love and accomplishment, came to a peaceful end in Palm Harbor, FL. He leaves behind a legacy of love and a family graced by his presence for 60 incredible years.
Pat was the cherished husband of Mary Jane, his sweetheart and partner in every aspect of life. Their love story was one of true companionship and mutual respect, a testament to the vows they upheld through six decades. Together, they nurtured a family that grew to include their devoted daughter, Stacey Bernardine, and their son, Brian, both of whom inherited their father's kind heart and adventurous spirit.
The family circle extended with the joyous addition of Pat's grandchildren: Amanda, Alexis, Brianna, Charley, and Adeline. Each grandchild was the apple of his eye, and he delighted in their every accomplishment and dream. Whether it was a sporting event, a play, or a milestone, 'Poppy' was always there to cheer them on. Pat's siblings, John, Mark, and Bonnie, along with his deceased sisters, Elizabeth and Maureen will remember him as the anchor of their family, a brother who was always there with support and wisdom. His best friend, Jimmy Dengler, will remember him as a loyal friend to laugh and grow with.
Educated at West Catholic School for Boys and St. Joseph University, Pat was a man of intelligence and ambition. He served his country with honor in the National Guard before embarking on a remarkable 40-year career as an investment stock trader. His keen insight and integrity led him to the esteemed position of partner at Wellington Management, where he was not only a leader in finance but also a mentor to many. Pat was also featured in Securities Traders Monthly where the front page headline called him, "A Pro's pro".
Pat's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. It was this faith that guided him in every decision and comforted him in times of trial. He lived by the well-known words of St. Francis of Assisi, "For it is in giving that we receive." Pat's spirit of generosity was felt by all who knew him, and his ability to bring joy to others was one of his most endearing qualities.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Pat found solace in fishing on his favorite boat the 'Yellow Tail', basking in the tranquility of the shore at the Canyon Club, and in the company of horses. His love for these interests was only surpassed by his love for his family, with whom he shared many memorable adventures.
Pat's character can be summed up in a few words: loving, adventurous, and generous. He approached life with a radiant positivity that inspired everyone around him. His laughter was infectious, his advice was sought after, and his presence was a comfort to all. At least once a week, he would cook his famous BBQ chicken or flounder.
In honor of Pat's life, let us remember the words of Scripture that he held dear, "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your master" (Matthew 25:21). Indeed, Pat's life was a testament to these words, a life well lived and a soul well prepared for the joy that now awaits him.
As we bid farewell to Patrick McCloskey, we hold tight to the memories, the lessons, and the love he shared. His spirit will continue to guide us, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, dear Pat, until we meet again.
