Patrick "Pat" E. McMahan, 70, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Brickyard Health-La Porte Care Center.
Pat was born on August 21, 1954, in La Porte, IN, to Bernie Eugene and Barbara (Hollenberg) McMahan.
Surviving are his son, Steven (Candace Walker) McMahan of La Porte; sisters, Bonnie (Dennis) Timm and Cindy Scheidel, both of La Porte; grandchildren, Shane, Sabrina and Owen McMahan; and nephews, Derek and Garett McMahan, Jarred Timm, and Eric and Brian Scheidel.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barb Hinton; stepfather, Al Hinton; brother, Gary William McMahan; sister-in-law, Sigrid McMahan; and nephew, Ryan Timm.
Pat remained very close with Steve's mom, Jeanette McMahan, who passed away this past February.
Pat left La Porte at the young age of 17 and settled in Lakewood, Colorado for 30 years before returning to La Porte. He loved the nature and mountain views of Colorado.
Pat worked as a laborer at Cobe Laboratories for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, rock music, camping and politics. He was a firebug and loved all kinds of fireworks. Pat was a fun-loving, wonderful person who never knew a stranger. He always said every year past 50 were bonus years for him, and he had 20 bonus years.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Cremation will take place following the service with a private inurnment at Pine Lake Cemetery on a later date.
