Patrick Murphy Obituary
Patrick was born May 1, 1947 in Guthrie Center, Iowa. He was one of three children born to Orlo and Lois (Ansberry) Murphy. After meeting on a hayrick ride, Sheryl Naughton was taken by Patrick's sense of humor, and the two were married on November 23, 1968. They had three boys: Shawn, Benjamin, and Jack.
Patrick worked for Home Towne Dairy of Iowa City for 30 years and worked in every part of the business. He took great pleasure in music and the outdoors, and one of his favorite things to do was attend his children's and grandchildren's sporting and music events.
Patrick stayed young by giving time to the Morse Community Club and supporting local children through donating supplies for backpacks through Iowa Community School District Foundation. Patrick loved the Coralville Public Library.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Sheryl, two sons Benjamin and Jack, and three grandchildren: Aidan, Jack and Grace. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn DeWees and brother Michael Murphy. He was preceded in death by his father Orlo, his mother Lois, and his son Shawn.
Family and friends will celebrate Patrick's life on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 2PM to 6 PM at the Hilltop, 1100 North Dodge St, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Coralville Public Library, Iowa City Community School District Foundation for the backpack program or to Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
