IOTA~ With great sadness and heavy hearts the family of Patrick Lee Richard announces his passing on Saturday, July 15, 2023, in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. He was 74. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p. m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph Mausoleum with Father Andrew Schumacher, Celebrant.
Patrick was born on April 11, 1949, in Bosco to Austin Richard, who preceded him in death and Mary Alice Smith Richard of Rayne. He retired after twenty-six years at Notre Dame High School where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Pat.” He was a loving, caring husband and father who worked hard to raise three college graduates. He was a good employee and volunteer who gave one hundred percent in any thing he did. He led a simple life; he did not need any fancy titles, expensive cars, or trips. He worked along side of his wife, Gail to keep their home well taken care of. He did not have a large number of friends, but he had the ones who always came when he called them, and for that we are blessed.
He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of forty- seven years, Celida “Gail” Richard of Iota; son Stephen Richard (Kristen) of Middlebury, FL; two daughters, Cheramie Coussan (Regan) of Lafayette; and Rebecca Vien (Mark) of Orange Park, FL; grandson, Daniel Richard of Middleburg, FL; his mother; seven sisters, Jane (Jimmy) Arceneaux, Angie (Carl) Meche, Sue, Loucinda, Charlene, Madeline and Sandra, all of Rayne.
He is preceded in death by his father, Austin Richard and his in-laws, Amos and Mary Romine.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Iota on Monday, July 17, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, July 18, from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. Deacon Dan will pray a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
