Patrick Charles Schaeffer was born February 6, 1972, to Tom and Vivianne (Wampler) Schaeffer. The fourth child of five, he grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1990. Patrick went on to graduate from Northern State University with a degree in Marketing and Business Management.

Patrick married April Davidson on September 22, 2000. To this union, a daughter, Bailey and a son, Tyler, were born. He loved being a dad! When the kids were little, he was an active participant in the kids' sports, serving as Soccer Coach for many seasons over the years. Patrick worked for Wells Fargo Financial (previously Aman Collection Services) for 20 years prior to the company leaving Aberdeen.

On the evening of April 11, 2019, following a blizzard that dumped 8+ inches of snow in Aberdeen, Patrick took a leap of faith and reached out to an old acquaintance, Jenny Hepper. They went to lunch the following day, and as the story goes … the rest is history. Patrick began working for Kitchen Tune-Up Home Office in September 2019. Patrick and Jenny were married on May 23, 2020, and became a family of seven. In January 2023, Patrick began working for Agtegra and became the Hedge Desk Operator in June 2023, where he remained employed at the time of his death.

Patrick was a die-hard Cowboys fan and shared his love of football with his son, Tyler. They could often be found watching football games together or discussing who was or wasn't playing well for various teams. He and Jenny also spent their winters in various hockey arenas in South Dakota and surrounding states, supporting her kids during their high school hockey careers. Patrick and Jenny also enjoyed traveling around the US and Caribbean, with their most recent trip to the Bahamas in March 2025.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Jenny; children, Bailey Schaeffer, Dawson (Abbie Allison) Hepper, Tyler Schaeffer, Kalin Hepper, and Rylee Hepper; his mom, Viv Schaeffer; siblings; Mary Schaeffer; Jennifer (Lee) Thompson and their children James (Ann Marie) and Emily; Tim (Shelly) Schaeffer and their sons Nick (Courtney) and Ben (Dawn); and Mark (Erica) Schaeffer and their sons Weston and Pierson; his father and mother-in-law, Dave & Peg Braaten; sister-in-law Jody (Nick) Pederson and their boys Levi and Theo; and brother-in-law Brent Braaten and his boys Tristan and Dillon; as well as many other extended family members.

Patrick was preceded in death by his father, Tom; step-son Logan Hepper; uncle Ken Schaeffer; aunt JoAnne Hyttenin; as well as his Maternal and Paternal grandparents.
