Patrick Schussman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cease Family Funeral Home - Bemidji on May 7, 2024.
Patrick Henry Schussman 93, passed away Monday May 6, 2024, at Serenity Living in Blackduck, Minnesota.
A family service is planned for later this summer.
Patrick was born on January 30, 1931 in Bemidji to Harry (Henry) and Dolly (Lee) Schussman.
He left the family farm moving to Bemidji where he met Helen Bratlien. They married on October 21, 1950, and were together for 70 years. They lived in Grand Rapids and Blackduck before settling in Bemidji where they raised their children, Barbara, David and Cheryl.
First employed in grocery stores he then moved into logging, his own sawmill and carpentry. He loved older tractors and searched the country looking for his prized rare 1950 Farmall C White Cubs traveling to Montana, Missouri, Illinois and even New York. Once found, he spent his time restoring and showing them at tractor shows. He was a talented craftsman mechanically and in his woodwork and always willing to help others. Other favorites were flying planes, driving some of the first snowmobiles, and every fall would find him with family hunting deer in the northern woods or Montana.
Survivors include his children and their spouses: Barbara and Douglas Columbus, David and Laura Schussman, Cheryl and Steven Kroger and twelve grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers Dick, Mike (Liz) and Tony.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and his siblings; Thomas, Margaret (Peggy), June, Shirley and Susan.
His family would like to thank Serenity Living in Blackduck for their care of Patrick in his last years and Sanford Hospice for their care and compassion the past weeks.
Condolences may be left at ceasefuneralhome.com.
