Patrick Seabolt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Lapeer on Jan. 28, 2026.
Patrick "Moe" Brian Seabolt, age 88 of Howell, MI, passed away on January 19, 2026. He was born on December 24, 1937, in Detroit, MI. A native of Redford Township, Pat graduated in the mid-1950s from Redford Union High School. He began working, still in his teens, at Northwest Industries, a cabinet and countertop manufacturer, and he worked his way up from his entry level position of keeping the sawdust swept from the shop floors all day to ultimately being a seasoned craftsman charged with designing, building, and installing custom cabinetry in both commercial and residential settings. It was at Northwest Industries that Pat's nickname, Moe, became a permanent part of his identity.

It was also at that job that Pat met his wife, Janet, when she took a part-time secretarial job in the office there while in college. Pat and Janet married a year after they met, and were a team for the next 56 years.

Pat retired from Northwest Industries after nearly 50 years of service there. He'd made good friends with his coworkers there, and those friendships continued for the rest of his life.

In the early 1960s, Pat took a two year hiatus from his cabinetry job to serve in the US Army. He was stationed in Virginia, and though he worked as a parachute rigger at the time of the Cuban Crisis in 1962, he mainly worked as an Illustrator. It was an apt position for him, as he was a lifelong artist. Horses were always his favorite subject, and his oil paintings won numerous ribbons in art shows. Pat also owned several horses over the years, most notably his chestnut gelding, Shiloh, and he loved to ride whenever he could.

A man of numerous interests, Pat also enjoyed lake fishing for most of his life, especially with his best fishing buddy, his brother-in-law Jim Kobe. He also believed in staying fit, and worked out regularly both at home and at the gym, still making twice weekly visits to the gym even in his late 80s.

Pat was an active member of the Hartland Senior Activity Center for over 20 years, ever since his retirement. He was friendly and gregarious and enjoyed his time there among friends, playing cards, shooting pool, painting with fellow artists, and just socializing with his fellow seniors. Always game for trying something new, he even signed up for a beginning tap dancing class at the senior center at the age of 80 and participated in the class recital.

He was an avid golfer for years, always had a jigsaw puzzle underway at home for his spare time, and looked forward every winter season to enjoying the happy camaraderie with the good friends in his bowling league.

Pat was a hard worker who never liked just sitting around. He was extremely proud of his family, and always encouraged them in their own endeavors. He had a positive spirit that was evident to all who met him. Discouraging others was never his style. When asked once toward the end of his life if he had any words of wisdom, he said, "I'd tell everyone that I love every one of them, and to enjoy their lives as much as they can."

Pat followed his own good counsel, and through thick and thin he enjoyed his life. He was always grateful for what he was given, he was there to help when others needed a hand, and he absolutely made the most of the time he had.

Pat was the quintessential Nice Guy, and he'd want to be remembered for making others smile.

Pat is survived by his wife, Janet Seabolt (Kobe); son, Brian Seabolt; daughter, Ann-Marie (Doug Warner) Seabolt; step-grandchildren, Anna Warner and Jack Warner; brother Larry (Veronica) Seabolt; sister Virginia Seabolt; along with many nieces, nephews, and beloved extended family. Pat treasured his lifelong friends, as well as the friends he made through his many interests and activities.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents Moses Seabolt and Grace (Donavin) Seabolt; sister Margaret Seabolt Haugen; brother Thomas O. Seabolt.
