Patrick J. Sheridan
July 27, 1962 – October 17, 2024
Active Firefighter Patrick J. Sheridan, a devoted family man, dedicated firefighter, and beloved friend, passed away on October 17, 2024, surrounded by friends he loved. Born on July 27, 1962, at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Patrick spent his life in service to his community and his loved ones. He embodied the true spirit of his alma mater, Fordham Prep's, motto, "A man for others" – always there when needed, and deeply cherished by all who knew him.
Patrick proudly served 38 years with the FDNY, never retiring from the job that defined much of his life and heart. His firehouse brothers, whom he loved fiercely, honored him with the nickname "Paddy-Do-Right" because he was always known to do the right thing, no matter the risk. Standing up for others, even when it meant putting himself in jeopardy, was second nature to him.
Patrick's love for his family was unparalleled. A devoted father and husband, he was deeply involved in his daughters' lives, always showing up for them, no matter what. His presence filled every space with joy and laughter, whether through his legendary storytelling or being the life of every party. Patrick was never afraid to dance with passion, sing at the top of his lungs, or cry when moved. His emotions were a testament to the depth of his love for life and those around him.
Patrick had a deep love for music, trivia, sports, history, maps, and his hometown, the Bronx. These passions wove through his life, shaping conversations and connections with others. His loyalty, integrity, and commitment to the people he loved will never be forgotten.
Patrick J. Sheridan leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion. He was a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and whose heart was forever intertwined with those he held dear. His impact will live on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched in his 38 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Carol, his two daughters, Jessica and Jacqueline, his mother Kathleen, and siblings, Brian (Doreen) and Kathy (Collins), as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his father Peter P., and brother Peter M., who shared in living life in service of others.
A wake service will be held on Monday, October 21, from 5-8 PM and Tuesday, October 22, from 4-8 PM at Fred H. McGrath and Son Funeral Home in Bronxville, NY. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, October 23, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to FIRED UP for a CURE, a cause close to Dad's heart: https://www.firedupforacurefdnynyc.org/
He will be profoundly missed, but his memory will continue to inspire.

Patrick came to my husband's (Maurice) wake and my son (Jimmies) wake and gave us wonderful hope and kindness. We were so grateful for that.
