PATRICK L. WHITLOW, MD. age 65, beloved companion and husband for 15 years of Lara Baird Whitlow; loving father of Laura Whitlow Schell (husband Ryan), Patrick L. Jr of Cleveland Heights, Katherine L. Whitlow of Washington, D.C., and Logan U. Baird of Highland Heights; expecting grandfather of his first grandson in August; cherished son of Eloise (nee McGukin) and the late George W.; dearest brother of William and Peggy Ratcliffe of Georgia; beloved son-in-law to Earnest and Carolyn Baird; cherished brother-in-law to Eric and Lorena Baird, Iana and Terry Eagle, Joseph and Renee Baird, and Cary Baird; survived by his beloved Dachshund, Casey; dear uncle and great-uncle of many. Pat was born on June 26, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia and passed away on March 22, 2016. He was a resident of Highland Heights since 2003, formerly of Cleveland Heights. Pat graduated from Dykes High School in Georgia and University of Virginia Phi Beta Kappa with Highest Honors in Psychology in 1972. He attended Duke University Medical School in Durham, North Carolina, and received his M.D. in 1976. Pat was the Director of Interventional Cardiology at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation since 1991 and an active member of the Professional Staff at the Cleveland Clinic since 1986. He joined the medical staff at UAB in 1981 and was appointed Director of the coronary care unit in 1982. In 1984, Pat was appointed cardiac catheterization laboratory Director until he was recruited to The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1986. Pat enjoyed fishing, skiing and golf. He loved traveling and visited many places including: the Middle East, South America, India, and Japan to name just a few. Pat also loved the vacations he took to the Outer Banks. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a quiet, witty, professional, spiritual and kind man who had a great sense of humor. Pat was dedicated to his patients, spending time motivating and encouraging them.
