Patsy Jean Barnes

Patsy J. (Willmon) Barnes was born on July 28, 1930 to Elmer and Alma (Ellis) Willmon in her parents' rural home. Her earthly journey was ended on August 1, 2024 at the young age of 94 years 4 days. She had just celebrated her 94th birthday with her family and friends along with cookies and her favorite orange punch.
A Celebration of Life is pending. Arrangements have been handled by Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Pat was born and raised during the Great Depression time. She very well remembered the hard times and talked about the times often. She graduated from Comanche High School in 1948 and was the Queen of CHS during her senior year. She also played basketball during high school. Pat dearly loved her grandparents, Dale and Oscar Willmon, and considered their place as home. She was baptized into the Church of Christ.
She married Gifford Barnes in September 1948 in the Montague County, TX courthouse. To this union, two children - son Larry Stephen and daughter Sheryl Ann - were born.
While the children were young, Pat worked from home as a typist for Stephens County Abstract. She was also an employee at Woolworth in Duncan for several years as the department head in Cosmetics. She gained employment at Dillard's in Wichita Falls and was recognized and rewarded as Top Sales Person over the entire store for several years. Pat returned to Duncan after her retirement in 1999.
She loved to fish with the family at the Red River on the Oklahoma side. Of course, she always wore her favorite perfume, Tabu. She always caught the most fish because of it (she was sure of it). Pat was always up to going somewhere, either by car or motorcycle. She went on annual vacations with Gifford and the kids in the heat of July. She also spent time with her daughter at whatever she was doing.
Pat was preceded in death by her son, Larry S. Barnes; infant grandson, Ryan Stephen Barnes; parents, Elmer and Alma Willmon; sister, Darla Dove; and brothers: Jerry Willmon, Ronald Willmon, and James (Jim) Willmon.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheryl A. Davis and husband Jerry of Duncan; grandchildren: Chad R. Jackson and wife Jennifer, Chris R. Jackson, Lara Rene Barnes Little, Stacey Barnes and others; and great grandchildren: Creed R. Jackson and others. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Cheek and husband Ben; many nieces and nephews; and by so many who loved her.
