Mary Chavez Giron Obituary
Mary Lou Chavez Giron passed away peacefully at the age of 68, surrounded by her family on January 23, 2026. She was born on March 12, 1957, in Socorro, New Mexico, to Antonia and Leonardo Chavez.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Hector "Er'tee", Estevan, and Placido Chavez; and her sisters Dolores “Lola” Maldonado and Eloisa Chavez Adete. She is survived by her brother Tomás Chavez, sister Patricia “Patsy” Chavez, her children Josephine Chavez, Alfonso Chavez, and Pascual Giron, daughter-in-law Desiree Giron, seven grandchildren, Dominic Chavez, Justine Chavez, Mario Rank, Miguel Giron, Amber Giron Javier Giron and Michael Smith (her "AB") one great-grandchild, Zayden Chavez and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou cherished time with her family, sharing stories of her childhood, enjoying trips to the casino, outings to the mountain, and family picnics and barbecues. She had a heart of gold and made everyone feel loved and welcome. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held on February 20, 2026, at Daniel’s Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at 11:00 a.m. at Old San Miguel Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus KC Hall. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who offered donations and support.
