A Celebration of Life for Patsy Flaniken, 77, of Cleburne will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 21, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Portland, Texas.
Patsy passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, in Fort Worth. She was born August 21, 1946 in Vernon, Texas to Haskell Buford and Opal Irene (Miller) Johnson. Patsy worked for KIII TV 3 in Corpus Christi with over 30 years of service as a Bookkeeper. She was a member of Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne. She worked for over 40 years in the Church nursery. Patsy was a kindhearted, sweet, spirited person with a great sense of humor that always had a smile on her face. She was a devoted friend with a giving nature. Patsy was an avid reader, especially fiction-based novels. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her children, Michael Flaniken of Burleson, Patrick Flaniken and spouse, Jamie of Laurens, S.C., Michele Poenisch and spouse, Don of Austin, Preston Flaniken and spouse, Carrie of Gatesville, and Matthew Flaniken and spouse, Lisha of Cleburne; grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Kaylee, Jezika, Raileigh, Cullen, Cassie, Breck, Chad, Kaitlyn, Haylee, Andrew, Megan, Aryn, and Sam; sister, Brenda Gonzalez of Plainview; and brother Donnie Johnson of Granbury, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Opal Johnson; and nephew, BJ Gonzalez.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to: the Nursery Department at First Baptist Church, Portland, Texas.

Patsy was such an awesome person. Very sweet. She took care of all my kids and even nieces and nephews in the nursery at FBC Portland. She was always smiling.
