ROBERTS
Patsy Ruth Hilliard Roberts, 94 years of age, entered her heavenly home on Monday, February 10, 2025 in Floresville, Texas with her daughter by her side. She was born in Gorman, Texas on January 6, 1931 to her parents, Russell and Nettie Lou Hilliard. Patsy along with her mom, dad and brother moved to
Freer, Texas at the age of 5. She attended school her whole life at Freer public school where she graduated in 1948. She and her family lived a very humble life yet it was rich in love and happiness. Raised in a Christian home, Patsy trusted the Lord as her personal saviour at the age of 15. She was a long time member of the FBC in Freer. She worked with great joy in the Pre-school dept. at FBC helping to teach precious little children about Jesus and His great love for us. For 40 plus years, this was her calling.
Patsy worked in the ticket booth at the "brand new" theater in
Freer, Texas. It was there where she met the love of her life, Alvin Roberts. They married October 11, 1951 and moved to Crystal City where they lived for a short time before moving back to Freer. They began their family in 1955 when their son, Michael Louis, was born. In 1961, a little girl, Sheila Kay, was added to the family. Patsy was a stay at home mom and wife. She loved being both and did her best at each. Her greatest joy was being with her family. Raising two children was the ultimate joy of her life. Her home was always open to others. One of Patsy's greatest joys was taking her daughter, Sheila, to piano lessons. This started when Sheila was 8 and continued until she was 18. Ten years, Patsy traveled a good distance to ensure her little girl was get the best teaching possible.
Anyone who has ever known Patsy would agree that she is the most loving, Christian lady ever. She loved people unconditionally. If anyone EVER needed a prayer warrior – Patsy was the one. She prayed all throughout the day and night for any and all that the Lord placed on her heart.
Patsy lived in Freer for 76 years until she moved with her daughter, Sheila and son-in-law, Ronald to La Vernia, Texas. She became a member of the FBC in Floresville where she was active until her health declined. Even though unable to attend church, she still worshipped at home with several televangelists such as Dr. Charles Stanley, Ed Young, and several others.
Patsy loved the Lord with all her heart and soul and wanted everyone to know Him as Savior and Lord. Even in her declined health both physically and mentally, she still let God be seen in her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years of marriage, Alvin Roberts; parents, Russell and Nettie Hilliard; her son, Mike Roberts; her brother, Robert Hilliard; and sister-in-law, Gena Hilliard.
Patsy is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Ronald) Brieden of La Vernia, Texas; daughter-in-law, Darla Spaulding; two grandchildren, Taelyr (Clay) Coleman, and Blake (Sarah) Brieden; four great grandchildren, Caesyn and Cannyn Coleman, Jett and Cooper Brieden.
