Patsy Ann Irby, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on September 15, 2024 at the age of 81. Born on March 2, 1943, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to Alise and Howard Irby, Patsy's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her five children: Tammy Mackanic -(Richard), John Fillmann -(Veronica), Denise Kay Spalding -(Mark), William Scott Fillmann-(Susanna) and Carolyn (Angel) Chapman -(David). Her love extended to her 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Patsy worked for many years in the hospitality industry, where she found fulfillment in serving others. Later, she became a cherished companion to many women, forming bonds that felt like family. Patsy also spent countless years doting on and helping to care for all her grandbabies as they came into the world. She adored decorating, crafting, and hunting for treasures at yard sales.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alise and Howard Irby, her brothers Bobby, Gerald, and Donnie Irby, her brothers-in-law Marion Kennedy and Walter Dodge, sister-in-law Joan Fillmann, former son-in-law Eleftherios (Terry) Sakellaropoulos as well as her nephew Aaron Irby. Patsy is survived by her siblings Michael Irby -(Ella), Carroll Irby -(Jeanette), Harold (Butch) Irby -(Nancy), her sister Phyllis Dodge, sister-in-law Linda Irby, brother-in-law Richard Fillmann, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished family members and close friends include Carmen, Joanne, Dina, Janet, Donna, Nancy, Karen, Renata, Sara, Amy, Judy, and Patty.
Her family will always remember her for her warmth and the love she shared.
