Patsy Jo Mead

 

 In Loving Memory

Patsy Jo Mead was born on August 12, 1952 in Danville, Illinois.  As a child she lived in several states throughout the Midwest including Ohio, West Virginia and Iowa.  She graduated from Boyden Hull High School in Hull, Iowa in 1971.  Patsy’s older brother, Terry, introduced her to Bob in December of 1972 and 4 short months later, on April 17, 1973, the two were married in Danville, Illinois.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past April.   Patsy and Bob raised 1 son and 6 daughters in Fremont and Omaha, Nebraska.   Patsy immensely loved her children and grandchildren.  She was a dedicated mother and grandmother.  Although Patsy once worked as a baker, a retail employee, and a security guard, her most recent work was that of a teacher, caring for young minds.  She was a preschool teacher for Westbrook Early Childhood Center, Valor Christian Academy and Northwest Hills Preschool.  She loved creating engaging lessons that allowed her students to experience the world through art and nature.  Patsy also served as a Sunday school teacher in many churches, sharing God’s love with children from birth to high school.

 

Patsy came to know the Lord as her Savior at a young age, although some would say she was born knowing God as her father.  She devoted her life to loving and serving the Lord. Her Faith in God helped to always find the good in the world and the good in others. She walked in the steps of Christ, as she embraced the Christian ideal of community - all walks of life were welcomed in her life and her home.  She was an intense prayer warrior and active member of her church’s prayer chain.  Patsy also loved gardening and bird watching and she loved to talk about both, teaching those around her all she knew.  She was a talented artist and found many ways to create.  From ceramics and painting, to crafts and wreath making, Patsy was always able to produce something beautiful.  Patsy was also an amazing writer.  She was known for her beautiful devotions that she shared at women’s retreats and wedding/baby showers, and for her heartfelt essays about how God showed his love to her in different ways.  She turned one of her essays into a children’s book called “Little Acorn Letting Go”.  

 

Patsy peacefully went to live with Jesus on Friday, June 24, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Naunie Lobaugh, her parents Russell and Wilma Pilkenton, her in-laws Robert and Alma Mead, her sisters Cinda Pilkenton and Crystal Pilkenton, her brothers Terry Pilkenton and Kevin Pilkenton, her sister-in-law Penny Pilkenton and brother-n-laws John Volenec and Butch Bozarth.  She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband Robert Mead, and 6 children Rodney Pilkenton, Heather (Chantha) Kes, Winter (Adam) Heuertz, Renata (Joseph) Girthoffer, Danion (Joshua) Martinez of Omaha, Nebraska and Emma Mead of Avondale, Arizona: her son-in-law Jermaine Lobaugh of Mansfield, Texas: her sisters Shari McConnaha and Robin (Brett) Holloway of McCook, Nebraska and Boni Myers of Fremont, Nebraska and her brother Jeffery (Francis) Pilkenton of Fremont, Nebraska: her sister-in-law Barbara Bozarth of Rock Hall, Maryland and brother-in-law Roger (Bunny) Mead of Omaha Nebraska; her amazing 13 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, many other family members, and lifelong friends.
