Patsy Lagro Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Downs Funeral Home - Superior on Apr. 6, 2026.
Patsy Mary Ella (Anderson) Lagro, 84 years young.

Patsy was born August 16, 1941, in Chetek, WI, the baby of 12 children, to Selder and Mary (Snyder) Anderson, She lost her short but mighty & fierce battle with multiple myeloma on April 5th, 2026. Though she did not meet her goal of seeing her first great grandson graduate from high school next year, we know she will be with Kolton on that day.

Patsy married Neil Lagro on October 17, 1959, in Rush City MN. Together they raised three children but as so many of you know ....... if you met her, you were now friends. And that is a lot of friends after having driven school bus for over 20 years! When you attended an event with her, you prepared for the Meet & Greet round and then waited and waited and waited while she did the Good-bye tour.

Whether you called her Patsy or Pat or Patty or Packer Patty she was always ready to "have a talk". If you stopped by her house, you were always offered coffee and typically some type of home baked treat. Although there was a time she offered Billy a store bought cookie.

Patsy considered her home on Oakland Road her heaven on earth. She fed her turkeys and deer. Brad became her critter partner as she would phone frequently with an update on a new animal in the yard, a change in the number, something new howling or the baby count had increased. Of course her little piece of heaven was made more special the day Dennis the Menace showed up. Yup, looked out the window one day and found she was now a caretaker to Dennis, the Peacock. Dennis was beautiful but also loud. That bird became a summer resident who was fed well and in return provided her security. Dennis let her know if there were any intruders coming up the drive – the UPS man had a first when Pat explained that the noise was Dennis – then showing him Dennis, sitting proud as a peacock on his deck post. She loved her garden and raspberries/blueberries/blackberries and apple trees. Her famous strawberry and raspberry freezer jams were shared by many ........ Kim L has graciously stepped up to take on the jams and canning routine. Patsy loved baking and trying out new recipes. Her family were eager taste testers, but let's be honest, she already decided if it was a good recipe or not so if she didn't like it, it didn't get put in the round of baked goods. As for the sugar cookies......the BEST! She grumbled about making these, but they were still made with all the love she could put in them because these were her grandkids and great-grandkids favorites. But you know, as the family size grew so did the number of those damn cookies. She was almost OK with taking a day to roll them out (no more than twice) and cooking them off but the frosting part was another conversation. Faydra stepped up and helped and when she wasn't available the cookies came with a bowl of frosting to be done by whoever was available. I mean these cookies are so good .......... Farynn preferred them with no frosting so those odd-looking pieces after the second cutting were put on a pan and baked off just for her. Pat was always up to the next art project. She created beautiful quilts, rag dolls for granddaughters, holiday runners and baby blankets. If Kim L said let's make ????, she was there giving it a try.

Packer Patty was fierce in her support. There were times that the family actually preferred to just leave her to watch the game alone. But when it came to her family, she would attend every concert, game and performance she could. She traveled to Shakopee for hockey and ball, she was in Green Bay for FBLA, listened to Faydra in many venues, to California for some horse shows ........ oh and so so many more places she went. She could cheer the loudest, clap the longest, and yell at a ref as she felt was needed....oh yes she was nearly kicked out of Kal's basketball.

There were also little things that Patsy so enjoyed. Kallyn did not appreciate the flash cards every morning before school, but today she will tell you that she is no dummy because of them. Kal will also tell you that Gram made up for it ... Gram made sure Grumpy arrived every day at school pick up with an apple & sugar. Pat treasured her daily phone calls from Golden Boy (aka Randy) telling her where he was and how each job site was going. She also loved the nightly calls from her Baby (aka Tracy) talking about whatever. But what she cherished most was the July butterfly release – she loved listening to the creek and thinking about her two angel great-granddaughters Kinsley & Mary Sloan. She often thought about what they would be like and the things they would be doing. Now she is holding them tight!

So much more we could say about her work background and how hard she worked but that is not what she would want. If not about family and friends, not all that important. We would however like to thank the incredible team at St Luke's Aspirus 2-West. The care and kindness came with so much dignity and respect ....... We, her family, cannot thank you enough!

Preceding Patsy in death was her husband Neil; her parents; six bothers and four sisters; nephew, Brad Lagro; and great granddaughters, Kinsley Elliana Kimmes and Mary Sloane Coghill.

Missing her terribly is her family, Tracy & Mark Miller, Randy & Kim Lagro, and Kim & Brad Izzard; Grandchildren (aka 6 pack & a quart) Jordan & Scott, Justin & Sarah, Farynn & Brian, Paige & Matthew, Faydra & Alex, Mary & Paul, Kallyn & Christian; and great grandchildren Kolton, Kloey, Kamryn, Julian, Sawyer, Kayson, Porter, Merritt, Ottavia and Claire; sister Charlene (aka Syke) Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Patsy's Life will be held on Sunday April 12th from 1:00 to 3:00p.m. with a Time of Remembrance at 2:00 at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St., Superior.
