Jean Watson Obituary

Jean Watson of Kildeer Visitation for Jean Watson (nee Royce), 80, will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of a service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. The Rev. Will Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Lakeside, Mich. Jean was born on March 24, 1925, in Lakeside, Mich. She passed away peacefully Dec. 14, 2005, at her home. When she was seven years old her father died suddenly. Her mother, a businesswoman, took over his partnership in the business he owned. She decided to rent her house and they moved in with her grandmother. She had a wonderful mother, grandmother and uncle. She had fond memories of going to the beach every day. They did everything to make her life happy. Mrs. Watson graduated from the University of Western Michigan in Kalamazoo where she majored in business administration. She moved to Chicago with her mother and started a career in advertising, where she spent the next 20 years enjoying every minute of it. She met her husband, Ken, who was starting his own business, Cynamic Chemical Corporation. They married and she continued her advertising career for two years. Jean and Ken decided they were going in opposite directions so she joined Ken in his business. This was a new career for her. They worked together for 23 years. They were not only compatible in business but also as husband and wife. They sold the company in 1990. She was a member of the Garden Club of Barrington, co-founder of the Kildeer Women's Club, and in her retirement, she enjoyed the Barrington Lyric Opera, Art Institute and traveling. Survivors include her spouse, Kenneth H. Watson and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anna Royce and a brother, Raymond. For information, 847-381-3411.

I will miss Jean. She was a lovely, gracious woman who was a dear friend of my sister. I knew her for over 40 years and I cannot recall her ever saying anything unkind about anyone. I hope she has fun doing garden work up in heaven....she loved flowers!
