Patsy “Pat” Ann Bullock McBurnett, affectionately known as Momma Pat, passed away peacefully at her home June 3, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on August 5, 1930, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Pat embodied a gentle strength and a profound love for the world around her through the pages of a good book, her love of birdwatching, and the companionship of many dogs and cats over the years. Her gentle spirit touched everyone she met, leaving a legacy of kindness and understanding. Pat met her future husband, Elbert Byron "Bud" McBurnett Jr., while they were both attending Baylor University in Waco. In August 1950, Pat earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at North Texas State College. Pat and Bud were married on August 29, 1950, in Robstown, Texas. Her early career was teaching, but Pat's primary focus was nurturing her four children: Mark, Elizabeth, Matt, and Melissa. She instilled in them a sense of independence, always providing unwavering support and guidance without criticism, allowing her children to discover their unique purpose in life. She ensured that each of her children and grandchildren earned a college degree. After Bud died in 1970, Pat demonstrated incredible resolve, returning to school to earn a Master's Degree in Psychology from Texas A&I. She moved her family to Portland, Texas and worked at the Education Service Center Region 2 in Corpus Christi until her retirement.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Herman William Bullock, Lillian Unity Bullock and stepmother, Imagene Bullock; her brothers, William Herman "Bubba" Bullock Jr., John Wayne Bullock, and Dale Davis Bullock; and her sisters, Gail Bullock Pohlmeyer and Barbara Lynne Bullock Johnson.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Mark McBurnett (Cheri), Elizabeth "Liz" McBurnett Currie (Carl Gene), Matt McBurnett (Maryam), and Melissa McBurnett (Susan Wittner). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Laura McBurnett Johnston (Clint), Carl Andrew Currie (Sharon), and David Currie (Samantha), and her precious great and great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will dearly miss her.

The family would like to thank an incredible caregiver, Janie Galvez, for her gentle care, empathy, and unwavering support that brought peace and comfort to our mom and our entire family during this difficult time. The family would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Harbor Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Pat in her final days. Pat will be interred at the Robstown Cemetery near her mother and brother Bubba with a private memorial service.
