Patsy Sue Montgomery, age 89, transitioned from this life to be with her Lord and Savior and those loved ones who preceded her in death on Monday, December 18, 2023. She was born in Carthage, Arkansas, September 13, 1934, to Wilbur C. and Lillian (Sims) Varnell, and raised in Donaldson, Arkansas, where she met the love of her life, Donald Wilbur Montgomery.
Patsy and Donald married and moved to Little Rock and raised four perfect children. (Well, she thought they were perfect). They were active members at Tyler Street Baptist Church where Patsy was church secretary and played the piano and organ. Their Tyler Street Church family became their extended family.
She was a strong, Christian woman, a bible scholar, an extraordinary cook, an avid reader, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years; sister, Sarah Robinson; son, Paul Montgomery; grandson, Brad Bemberg, Sr.; granddaughter, Margie Bethea. She is survived by sisters, Yvonne Samons (Jerry) and Wilma Silvers; daughters, Donna Wagner (Tom), Mary Beth Bemberg, and Pam Montgomery; grandchildren, Jenny Thompson (Chad), Mathias Wagner, and Alex M. Bethea (Kaylee); and five great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. Little Rock, AR, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Her cremated remains will be buried at a private ceremony at a later date.
The family wishes to acknowledge the care provided by Baptist Hospital ICU and Hospice Comfort Care.
