Patsy Pitts Nichols, 81, of Newberry, widow of Jerry A. Nichols, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Agape Hospice House of Lexington.
Born on November 29, 1943, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late J. Milton and Hattie Derrick Pitts. Patsy was a graduate of Newberry High School. She was retired from the Newberry County Department of Social Services. She was a member of Colony Lutheran Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a lifetime member of the Women of the Lutheran Church in America. She was a charter member of the Lakelands Basketry.
Patsy is survived by daughters, Wanda N. (Bobby) Courtney and Donna N. (William “Chip”) Caldwell; sisters, Myrtle P. Longshore and Mamye P. (Roger) Enlow; grandchildren, Megan Courtney (Eric) Lowe, Ashlyn Courtney (Aaron) Davis, William Chase (Whitney) Caldwell and Judith Cade (Joseph) Rister; great-grandchildren, Emma Courtney Lowe, Maci Paige Caldwell, Ryker James Aull Lowe and Barrett Willis Caldwell.
She was predeceased by brothers, Joe Carl Pitts, C. David Pitts and James Madison Pitts.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. Jan Setzler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
Memorials may be made to Colony Lutheran Church, 48 Colony Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Longshore, Roger Enlow, Jr., Jason Nichols, Todd Morris, Stuart Smith and R. D. Longshore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phyllis Houston her loving caregiver, Ezell Hancock and Karrie Nichols.
