Patsy “Pat” Sue Danklefs Shingledecker, 79, widow of Harold “Paul” Shingledecker, of Wesley Village, Wilmore, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026. She was born on October 21, 1946, in Clovis, NM to the late James Edgar “Eddie” Danklefs and Viole LaVerne Robertson Danklefs.
Pat graduated from Monterey Senior High School (Lubbock, TX) in 1965 and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Asbury College (Wilmore, KY) in 1970 with a degree in elementary education. She was certified to teach elementary education in the state of Kentucky (1970-1989).
Pat worked alongside her beloved husband, of nearly 58 years, as a missionary for World Gospel Mission for 40 years, serving in Burundi, in Haiti and then as regional directors for missionaries in the U.S. and Africa. They were heavily involved in radio work in Burundi and Haiti, and Pat, in educating their three daughters. After their move to Marion, IN, in 2003, they both worked at WGM headquarters – Pat in accounting, one of her passions. Pat loved to reconcile bank statements and to find that last penny in an account. After their retirement in 2013, Pat continued to work with both WGM and their church, College Wesleyan Church, doing what she loved – accounting and working with children.
She is survived by three daughters: Laura (and Bert) Walther, Linda (and Josef) Gafranek, and Lisa (and Kevin) Fritts; eight grandchildren: Beth Walther, Becca (and Daniel) DeVita, Rachel (and Auston) Whitson, Sara Jo Gafranek, Violet Powell, Zach Powell, Quin Powell, and Teresa (and Jacob) Bame; and four great-grandchildren: Anna Joy DeVita, Paul David DeVita, Josef Lee Whitson, John (Jack) Blaise Bame. She is also survived by her ‘sibs’: sister-in-law (and best friend of 60 years) Faith Shingledecker, her sister-in-law Lois (and David) Scroggins, and her brother-in-law Ken (and Connie) Shingledecker. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Gallagher, and her brother, Ricky Danklefs.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Wilmore Free Methodist Church, with Pastor Dwight Winters officiating. Burial will follow in Wilmore Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the church. Betts & West is honored to serve the Shingledecker family in their time of need.
