Patsy Petty Obituary
May 17, 1935 – August 3, 2024
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, Patsy Sue Bodine Petty, age 89, passed away at her home at Wisteria Place in Abilene, Texas.
Pat was born on May 17, 1935, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother Lois Honeycutt Bodine, father Carl H. Bodine, husband James A. Petty, brother Rex Bodine, and sister Nan McLeod Ballas.
Pat graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a degree in music education (voice). Rather than pursue a career, she raised her children and participated in leadership at the Abilene Woman's Club, Harmony Club, and her church. With lifelong interests in history, Pat was a veracious reader. Being a 6th-generation Texan, she loved connecting with her many cousins and enjoyed telling family stories.
Pat is survived by her daughter Deborah Petty Brooks of Arlington, daughter Diane Petty Lamb (Gary) of Dallas, grandchildren Carl Brooks of Grand Prairie, Nathan Brooks (Emily White) of Arlington, and Megan Brooks (Chris Scofield), of Arlington; five great-grandchildren Destiny Brooks Lyons (Zack), John Connor Brooks, Holly Bailey Brooks, Charlie Brooks Scofield, William Riker Brooks, great-great-grandson Lucas Russell Lyons, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the chapel at Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024, with Pastor Carlo Sosa-Ortiz officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Clyde Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Central Presbyterian Church in Abilene, TX, or a charity of your choice. The family would like to give a special thank you to Wisteria Legacy Lane for their wonderful care and compassion during Pat's time with them.

We first met Pat when we moved to Wisteria Place last year. She made us laugh and smile every day. We learned a lot from her and will miss all she was.
