Patsy Jane Peyton, 88, of Center Point, Iowa, formerly of Coggon, Iowa, passed away with her family by her side, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Celebration of Patsy’s life will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A Private Family Burial will be held at the Coggon Cemetery in Coggon.
Patsy was born on February 22, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, the daughter of John and Grace (Horak) Nesley. She was a 1954 graduate of Coggon High School. On March 6, 1955, Patsy was united in marriage to Keith F. Peyton at the Coggon Methodist Church. Together, they farmed the land near Coggon and owned a corn shelling business for many years. Apart from caring for her five children at home, which kept her busy, she also had other jobs including Smulekoff’s Department Store, Ryan’s Steakhouse, and served as the Assistant Town Clerk of Coggon. Patsy was known for her excellent baking and cooking and was resourceful at stretching a budget. Patsy Jane Peyton’s legacy is one of unwavering strength, nurturing spirit, and the selflessness of a devoted mother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Patsy is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years, Keith Peyton of Center Point; children, Steven (Julie) Peyton of Center Point, Doug (Ann) Peyton of Coggon, Nancy Kuhn of Center Point, Jeff (Beth) Peyton of Evans, Georgia, and Gary (Sonja) Peyton of Humboldt, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Jody (Matt) Michael of Walker, Iowa, Joel (Kerry) Peyton of Winthrop, Iowa, Whitney (Nic) Ungs of Iowa City, Iowa, Levi Peyton of Coggon, Tess Kuhn (Ethan Frakes) of Walker, Iowa, Trent (Erin) Kuhn of Walker, Nicole (Andy) Larkin of Ottumwa, Iowa, Kelsey (Trent) Stuchel of Independence, Iowa, Karlee (Ben) Jacobsen of Marion, Iowa, Cassie Peyton of Humboldt, Iowa, and Kinzie Peyton of Humboldt, Iowa; and 14 great grandchildren, with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Miriam Banowetz, Walter “Glen” Nesley, Norman Nesley, Dean Nesley, and Johann May; and brother-in-law, Kleon Peyton.
