Patsy Sargent Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waldo Funeral Home - Sherman on Jan. 14, 2025.
Patsy Ross Sargent, age 90 of Denison, Texas, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2025. She was born on September 17, 1934, in College Station, Texas, to Emmitt J. Ross and Albina Blazek. The fourth of ten children, Patsy was proud to be one of the Ross kids. Her favorite memories were with her family at the Ross Christmas and 4th of July celebrations in Navasota at Bob and Ann Ross' home, the beach trips to Port Aransas and the many family weddings. A party was never complete without laughter and staying up all night.
Patsy attended McKenzie Baldwin Business College after graduating from A & M Consolidated High School since females weren't permitted to attend Texas A&M University at that time. Throughout her life, she had been an Aggie fan -- whoop!
She attended a family reunion in 1954 with her good friend Linda Sargent. It was there that she met her future husband, D.P. Sargent, Jr. They were married for 69 years until D.P. (Dub) passed away in 2023.
Patsy and D.P. welcomed a daughter, Pamela Gay, in 1956. They lived in Arlington and Wichita Falls before moving to Sherman, Texas, in 1963. They welcomed their son Jeffrey Ross in 1964.
The opening of Underwood's BBQ is what led the Sargent family to Sherman. Patsy and D.P. worked side-by-side for 23 years before retiring in 1987.
Patsy is survived by her children Pam Dodson and husband John, Jeff Sargent and wife Kim; grandchildren Matthew Dodson and wife Maggie, Mallory Marcoux and husband Clint, and Harley Sargent; great grandchildren Blythe and Sam Dodson, Kirksey, Hattie and Virginia Marcoux. She is also survived by siblings Maisie Gandy, Helen Kennon, Sue Flato, Dianne Feldman, J.D. Ross and many nieces and nephews. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents Emmitt J. and Albina Ross along with siblings Emmitt Ross Jr., Robert Ross, Irene Miller, Nell Summerlin and great grandson Hayes Dodson.
Patsy was a true servant and was kind to everyone. She loved unconditionally. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Grayson Court in Denison, Texas, and 3 Oaks Hospice for the exceptional care and love they gave Patsy.
