Patsy Arlene Smith Powell, age 73, of Hayes, snuck off to be with her Lord Jesus on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, with her family by her side. Patsy was born on August 31, 1951, to the late Eddie "Buster" Taliaferro Smith, Jr. and Bessie Lena Jenkins Smith. Her family built some of the most beautiful local workboats and ferries, including the local Cornwallace. Patsy was a Rappahannock Community College graduate. She retired as a Security Supervisor for the State of Virginia. She was the proud owner of an automotive shop. She enjoyed traveling with her boys all over Virginia and North Carolina. She had the best taste in music. Patsy always put her family first. She was the best mom and will be forever missed. In addition to her parents, Patsy was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Michelle Hogge, and granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Hogge. She is survived by her sons, Wilmore Daniel Hogge III, Charles Adam Smith, and Joshua Patrick Smith, grandchildren Ellen (Luke), Cheyenne (Jesse), Krissy (Chris), and great-grandchildren, Daniel, Abel, Atlas, Amethyst, and Brody, sister-in-law Linda Craig, uncles Danny Lee Smith and Henry "Joe" Smith, many extended family members, and beloved German Sheperd, Sasha, also survive her. The family will receive friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. The funeral service will be held at Union Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 2:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Jared Berry and Pastor John Pouchot. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Services under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home.
