Patsy Laverne Whitehead

 

     Patsy Laverne Whitehead, 73, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away in the evening hours of Sunday, January 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

     Patsy was born to Wilton Jerry (W.J.) and Opal (Ricks) Whitehead on July 23, 1950, in Texas.  Patsy loved watching her Kansas City Chiefs play and kept up with the score of every game.  She loved the beach and the sunshine.  Patsy always looked on the "bright side" and saw the positive in every situation.  She was a cancer survivor, and her daughter will remember her as "the strongest woman she's ever known".  Patsy loved getting outdoors and fishing with her son.  As long as she was with her children & grands, she was happy.

     She is survived by her mother, Opal Whitehead; daughter, April (Jamie) Walker; son, Shawn Whitehead; sisters, Marcelle (Hal) Jackson, Wanda (Mike) Fletcher, Tracy Whitehead, Paula (Richard) Taylor, and Gracie Farrell; along with her three grandchildren, Jonathan Jones, Christopher Whitehead, and Kaley Jones.

     She is preceded in death by her father, W. J. Whitehead, Sr.; son, Carlton Ray Johnson; and brother, Wilton Jerry Whitehead, Jr.

     A memorial service to celebrate Patsy’s life will take place at a later date.
