Patsy Wiley, age 82 years, 1 month, and 22 days, has gained her wings and departed this life to meet her Savior, family, and friends in Heaven.
Patsy Lou Nelson was born prematurely on June 20, 1943, in Blair, Jackson County, Oklahoma, to Velma Jewel (Goodwin) and William "Spencer" Nelson. She began life weighing just 4 pounds 3 ounces. Her early care included a shoebox incubator with a light bulb above and diapers made from her father's handkerchief cut into quarters.
She was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Following World War II, like many Oklahomans, her family moved west and settled in Clovis, California, where Patsy completed elementary and high school.
In 1961, Patsy married James "Jim" Cook. They had a son, Timothy, and a daughter, Sheri. In 1974, she married Lawrence "Larry" Wiley. Together, they had daughters Sandi and Dena, and son Steven.
Patsy lived and worked in California and Colorado before returning to Oklahoma in 1993. She settled in the Sand Springs area to be near her maternal family. Her work spanned grocery stores, wildfire fighting, CNA in a nursing home, and motel management. Patsy loved nature and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; infant brother Tommy Nelson; infant sister Judith Nelson; half-brothers Charles, Bill, and Henry Nelson; one grandson; and Goodwin aunts and uncles Sylvia, Johnny, Shorty, Pauline, Hershel, and Mary.
She is survived by her five children, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, Uncle Cecil Goodwin, Goodwin cousins, and numerous Nelson cousins, nieces, and nephews in Oklahoma and California.
