Patty Applegate

Patty Applegate, age 81, of Yorktown, Indiana, passed away at her home on Friday, July 26, 2024. She was born on July 22, 1943, in Muncie, Indiana to Howard and Violet (Vise) Beouy. She grew up in Muncie and Yorktown and attended Burris and Yorktown schools, graduating from Yorktown High School in 1961. She married Larry Applegate in September of 1961, and they celebrated over 62 years of marriage together. Patty loved her family and shared with Larry two children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Patty and Larry enjoyed many years of traveling and camping in their motorhome, being the campground hosts at Mounds State Park, and wintering in Florida where they made memories with friends. She loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events and she was always so proud of their accomplishments. Having her grandchildren over to bake cookies with her was one of her favorite things to do. Patty worked in the Yorktown school system for 31 years as a principal's secretary, where she enjoyed being a part of the Yorktown community families. She was always there with a kind and encouraging word and was deeply loved by her family, friends, and community.
She will be missed by her loving husband, Larry Applegate; her daughter and son-in-law Lynette and Doug Shott, her son and daughter-in-law Greg and Amy Applegate; grandchildren Drew Shott, Aaron Shott (wife Victoria), Aubreigh Applegate (husband Jacob Foster), Brandt Applegate, and Addi Belle Applegate; great grandchildren Jolie Foster and Ayda Foster. She was proceeded in death by her parents Howard Beouy and Violet Beouy; her mother-in-law Sarah Belle Applegate, and her sister Barbara Miller,
Services will be held on Friday, August 2nd at Gant Funeral Home, 2215 South Broadway Street, Yorktown, IN. Calling hours will be from 11:00 to 1:00, with the service immediately following at 1:00. Burial will follow at Yorktown Cemetery.
Patty spent her career working with children. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Great Lakes Transport Fund in honor of Avonlea Miller, Patty's great niece.
