Patty Whitaker Harrison

Boonville – Patty Lou Whitaker Harrison, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the 11th of March, 2026. She was born March 2, 1940 in Yadkin County to the late John Haskel Whitaker and Clara Belle Underwood Whitaker.

Patty graduated from Yadkinville High School and then she married her high school sweetheart “Verne” on April 6, 1958. She worked at Hanes Hosiery for several years before returning to Surry Community College to receive her associate degree in accounting. Patty went to work for Brendle’s for many years before working for Charles Scott CPA firm, where she retired at the age of 70. She had a great love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren which gave her much joy.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy “Verne” Harrison; brothers, Bill Whitaker, Miles “Ray” Whitaker. She is survived by her children, Tamara (John, Jr.) Murphy, Timothy (Amy) Harrison; grandchildren, Julia Murphy, John Murphy III, Amanda (Brian) Streetman; great grandchildren, Harrison Streetman, Benjamin Streetman; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

Her funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Andy Lambert. Burial will follow at Center Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Trellis Supportive Care and Hospice, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to New Horizons Home Care, 648 Carolina Ave, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Harrison family.
