Patty Mayo Lewis
September 22, 1941- November 13, 2025
Patty Mayo Lewis, 84, of Huntington, WV went to paradise on November 13th, just six days after her husband, to await the rise to heaven when Jesus comes. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Patty graduated from Buffalo High School in 1959 and later worked several years for agents of State Farm Insurance before ending up at the Ceredo (United) Bank until she retired. She enjoyed working at the bank and remained lifelong friends with many she worked with.
She was a member of Huntington Christian Church for over 50 years and held many offices such as President, Treasurer, and all committees of the Loyal Daughters. She was Treasurer of the church for many years and held all the offices of the C-U Sunday Class, which she loved.
Patty was preceded in death by her husband and lifelong partner of 62 years, Rodney Dwight Lewis, passing just six days prior on November 7th. She was also preceded by her mother, Cleo Perdue Mayo, her father, Othel Franklin (Taft) Mayo, two brothers and one sister, George O. (Doodle) Mayo, Jerry Roger Mayo, and Polly Jane Smith. Also preceding her was a beloved brother-in-law, Richard Cassel, and sister-in-law, Gladys Mayo.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing three precious children and their spouses, Michael and Cathy Lewis, Mark and Shawna Lewis, and Monica and Andy Smith. Patty was adored by six grandchildren and their spouses, Ben Lewis, Alex Lewis, Kaden and Ciara Lewis, Braelee and Branty Wilson, Amelie Pinkernell and Maximilian Pinkernell. She was fortunate to live long enough to also enjoy two great grandchildren, Riley and Lainey Lewis with Georgia Wilson due in January. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Billie Cassel, and many nieces, nephews, and her church family. She also leaves behind three special friends who remained constant over the years and were always there for her, Flora Crum Carter, Gwen Byard, and Sharon Fitzpatrick.
Patty was always there when her children (or anyone for that matter) called and said they needed her. She would drop what she was doing to help, often hopping on a plane the next day, even if it were just to babysit. She always liked to say that if not for the love and support from her husband Rodney and Jesus Christ, she would not have been on the earth this long. She leaves behind no regrets and is now in the presence of her Lord. She fought a good fight, she finished the course, and she kept the faith.
Rodney and Patty lived the last two years of their lives at Woodlands Retirement Community. The entire family is eternally grateful to all the staff and feels that the family grew significantly over the last few years due to the care, love, and support extended upon the couple while living there.
Visitation for both Patty and Rodney will be at Reger Funeral Home on November 23rd from 1:00 to 3:00 with funeral services immediately after with Scott Byard proceeding. The entombment will immediately follow at Dock’s Creek Mausoleum.
