Paul Lloyd Aaser, 76, Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society, Larimore, ND.
Paul was born on September 25, 1949 in McVille, ND to Laura (Aga) and Orvin Aaser. He was raised on the family farm with his brother, Ove. He attended McVille public school, graduating in 1967. Paul attended Lake Region Jr. College in Devils Lake, ND. Working with the college’s on-the-job training program he was placed at Our Own Hardware. Paul married Coleen (Sigette) in 1969, and they were blessed with two children, Lori and Randy. He was in the US Army from 1970-1972. Upon his return he again went to the hardware store, which they later purchased. After selling the store he started Lake Country Auto Sales with his two partners, Bernie and Jim. He later worked for the state at Camp Grafton’s Range outside of McHenry.
Paul re-enlisted in the ND National Guard and participated in Desert Storm in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. He was medically retired in 1999.
After 37 years in Devils Lake they retired to a farm north of Aneta, ND. In 2007 they moved to McVille and in 2018 they moved to Grafton, ND to help raise their grandchildren when Lori passed away.
Paul was active in city government in Devils Lake and McVille. He also was active in many fraternal organizations. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all-around handy man projects.
Paul is survived by wife, Coleen; son, Randy (Cynthia); 3 grandchildren, Caitlyn, Caleigh, and Austin Kaml; sister-in-law, Kathy Ressler; brother-in-law, Mike (Joneen) Sigette; Karen Olson; many nieces and nephews; and 3 step-granddaughters, Yesenia, Marissa and Laci.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori; his parents; brother, Ove; and brother-in-law, Wayne Ressler.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Center Lutheran Cemetery, rural McVille, ND.
