Paul Abeyta Sr., 93, a resident of Ohkay Owingeh, NM, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025. He was born on January 14, 1932, to Juan and Trinidad Abeyta.
His unwavering commitment to duty was evident throughout his service in both the Army and Navy. His dedication to family was a testament to his loving nature and strong values. Through his actions, he showed his love for his family. His presence remains an enduring inspiration. Paul found much happiness watching his Children and grandchildren participate in sports. He took great pleasure in visiting The Ohkay Casino . He was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, loved the Chicago Cubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Trinidad Abeyta; wife Flora Abeyta; daughter Crucita; brothers Ramos, Gabriel, Bobby, David, and James (sister-in-law Jennifer) Abeyta.
Paul is survived by his daughters Trinnie Abeyta and Syliva (Marty) Herrera; sons Paul Jr. and Johnny, Frisco Sr.; grandchildren Johnny Jr., Tammy (Antonette), Tosh Abeyta, Peter Aguino Jr., Paul III, Kaylina, Wanda, April; and Frisco Abeyta Jr.; sisters: Evelyn (John) Calvert and Gloria Johnson; sister-in-law Teresa Abeyta; 18 great-grandchildren Autumn, Johnny III, Amber Reano, kayden, Felix "El Gato", Jasmine, Qianna Abeyta, Jubilee, Amani, Uriah, Jaxson Aguino, Mikey Anaya, Larik, Elanese, T.J., Romello, Nathaniel and Aries Abeyta; one great-great-grandchild Greyson; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
Rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 7:00 pm in the home at 998 Po'Pay Ave. Ohkay Owingeh.
The burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 9:00 am at the Ohkay Owingeh Catholic Cemetery.
The family of Paul Abeyta has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley 505-747-7477.
