Paul Ammann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duggan's Mission Chapel on Jan. 12, 2026.
On November 16, 2025, Paul Ammann passed peacefully at the age of 80, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Paul lived a life anchored in family, hard work, and the quiet strength he brought to everything he did.

Paul grew up in Sonoma, attending El Verano Elementary School and Sonoma High School. In 1967, he married Beverly Garrison, and together they built a
loving family with their two children, Sherri and Paul Jr. When Sherri's sons, Nicholas and Ryan, came along, Paul discovered a new kind of joy as "Papa." His
grandsons brought him immense happiness, and family remained the center of his world.

Paul began his career as a pipe fitter at Mare Island before following his love of the outdoors to start his own landscaping business. He poured decades of
dedication into serving the Sonoma community and after twenty years, his son Paul Jr. joined him. Together, they continued building what Paul had started. After
45 years, Paul proudly passed the business to his son, watching a dream come full circle.

From boyhood, Paul loved fishing and hunting. As a teenager, he met John Curotto on a hunting trip, and a lifelong friendship was born. Their bond deepened over
annual hunting trips up north and countless mornings fishing the sloughs. What started as a chance meeting became a true brotherhood that lasted Paul's entire
life. Paul will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to family, and the steady, dependable way he lived. He showed up. He did the work. He loved well.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Frances; his son, Paul Jr. brothers Herb Jr. (Alberta) and Cary (Gayle); nephews Mark, John (Valerie) and
Tony Ammann; and niece Denise Ammann. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Beverly; his daughter, Sherri; his grandsons, Nicholas and Ryan Brignoli, his brother, Luke; nephews Tim, Cary Jr. (Kim), Luke (Marisa) Ammann, and Jim (Ronda) Haire; his sister in law, Linda (Dave) Bartee; nieces Kim Crawford and Christie Bartee (Georgie). He was also blessed with several great nieces and great nephews who brought him tremendous joy. Paul's family wishes to express their deep gratitude to John and Connie Curotto for their lifelong friendship and support.

Joanie Bourg

January 23, 2026

My name is Joanie Bourg. I, too, went to ElVerano school, and graduated from SV High in 1975. I really knew Paul as a fellow gardener, having enjoyed his many , many visits to Sonoma Mission Gardens, where I worked for many years in the 1980´s and 90´s. Paul truly always had a smile ready. What a lovely man he was. We would chat about , well, you know... " garden things"! and we would always part company with a smile and a laugh. He was a steadfast , present and lovely man. I will also add that my parents used to visit Cary and his wife at their house on Grove St. in the 1960´s, and I as a young child, I remember Cary as a lovely, happy guy. I offer my sincere, heartfelt condolences to the Amman family during this difficult time. We were all blessed to have Paul in our World and our lives.
