Paul Bendixen, 88, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Hallmar Village in Marion. Services are pending with Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion.
Paul was born on July 17, 1936, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Nellie (Swenson) Bendixen. He was a 1954 graduate of Freeborn High School and went on to attend Dunwoody Technical Institute in Minneapolis. He worked at IBM in Minneapolis and Collins Radio/Rockwell International in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1992. On August 27, 1961, Paul was united in marriage to Betty Jane Lehrman at St. John Lutheran Church in Olin, Iowa. Paul and Betty were avid travelers, visiting all 50 states and 4 foreign countries. He enjoyed camping, bicycling, taking photos, and making fond memories with his family. Paul could also fix almost anything. As someone who had an eye for detail, he completed beautiful projects in the home, yard, and church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Betty Bendixen of Marion; children, Paulette Bendixen of Sydney, Australia, Pamela (Philip) Herman of Des Moines, Iowa, and Thomas (Brandi) Bendixen of Marion; grandchildren, Austin Brown, Valerie Brown, Josiah Herman, Abigail Herman, Nathanael Herman, Kaylan Herman, Lucy Herman, Lauren Bendixen and Tyler Bendixen; and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Matthias Herman; brother and sister-in-law, Marshall and Helen Bendixen; and niece, Diane Natzel.
