Paul R. Berestecky, 83, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Hildegard House in Louisville, KY.
He was born on May 13, 1941 in Donora, Pennsylvania and attended Donora Public Schools, he graduated from Washington Jefferson College in Washington, PA, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Kathryn (Stillitano) Berestecky of Donora, PA; his father and mother-in-law, Vital and Marie (Boucher) LeBlanc of Fitchburg, MA; his stepchildren, Scott A. Lemay of Florida, Suzanne M. Schaff of Louisville, KY; his brother-in-law, Kevin R. LeBlanc and sister-in-law, Joan Richard of Massachusetts.
Paul is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janet D. Berestecky; his beloved sister, Frances (Greg) Wisyanski of Bridgeville, PA; his brother, Charles (Marlene) Berestecky of Maume, OH; his son-in-law, Timothy D. Schaff of Louisville, KY; his brothers-in-law, Joseph (Dorothy) LeBlanc and Gary (Barbara) LeBlanc, his sisters-in-laws, Nancy (Jack) Koskinen and Cindy (Jeffrey) Foster, all of Massachusetts. Paul has many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and made many good friends throughout his life.
Paul retired from Union Camp Corporation specializing in Human Resources and Labor Relations after 27 years, he went on to work for Brinks Risk Management for 3 years and Louisville Gas & Electric Company in Labor Relations for 6 years before retiring.
Paul was a people person, he made many friends and was respected by all that knew and loved him. He led his life with kindness, honesty and humility. He loved to read, golf and bowl. He loved jazz music and played the trumpet in high school, and was an excellent baseball player.
His celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions East Chapel (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
In lieu of flowers donations in honor of Paul can be made to Hildegard House (114 Adams Street Louisville, Ky 40206) or Hosparus Health (6200 Dutchman's Lane Louisville, KY 40205).
