Elizabeth Berestecky Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" M. Berestecky, 73, of Osterville, formerly of Needham, MA and Freehold, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich on January 27, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Boreslaw "Bo" Berestecky and the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Milne. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Milne. Betty was born in Yonkers, NY and received her nursing education at St. Francis School of Nursing in Trenton, NJ. Betty and Bo married in France during Bo's active duty tour. Betty dedicated her life to raising her family. She worked as a registered nurse for many years before becoming an executive assistant at Babson College. Upon their retirement they moved to Cape Cod in 1999. Betty was active in the Cape Cod Chapter of the Military Officers Association, and loved to golf, read and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, and cherished grandmother and will be dearly missed by all. Betty is survived by her husband, Bo, of fifty-two years. She is also survived by five children: Michael Berestecky and wife Beth, of Madison, CT; Ann Marie Berestecky of Mashpee, MA; Stephen Berestecky of Pocasset, MA; Suzanne Berestecky, of N. Falmouth, MA; John Berestecky and wife Kristen, of Bourne, MA; Matthew Berestecky and wife Tracy of Bourne, MA. She is also survived by her sister Margaret and husband Gerald Ligay, of Cold Spring, NY, eleven grandchildren; Michael, Lauren, Reed, Grace, Kalyn, Julia, Ava, Lilia, Brian, Kieran, Bridget, and many nieces and nephews; all of whom will carry her strong spirit, memory and legacy. Visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home 74 Algonquin Ave. Mashpee, MA on Monday January 30, 2012 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church 76 Wianno Ave. Osterville, MA on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11:00am. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute & The Jimmy Fund at P.O. Our thoughts and prays are with the Berestecky family at this sad time. We were lucky to have Betty & Bo as neighbors in Needham and shared many good times. She was a special lady and will always be remembered as a kind and generous person.
