Paul Bowers

New Lexington Paul Robert Bowers, 77, of New Lexington, Ohio went to his heavenly home at 2:33 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 at The Pickering House-FairHoPe Hospice, Lancaster, Ohio.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1946 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late William "Billy" and Bonnie Bowers.

He was a longtime member of the Grace Community Church of the Nazarene.

Paul was a faithful man who loved his family, church, and community. Paul served in the Army for three years, 1966-1969, during Vietnam. He was also a member of the John Tague Post #188, American Legion of New Lexington. Paul retired from the United States Postal Service after 33 years of service.

Paul will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 52 years, Sharon L. June Bowers; his loving daughters; Sherri L. Burgess (Steven), Brooklyn A. Barnette (Dalton); also fondly remembered by his grandchildren; Seth, Sydney, and Sophie Burgess, and brother, Richard Bowers. Also, many other special relatives, and his faithful pooch, "CHARLIE."

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Paul. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. Paul found enjoyment in washing and waxing his vehicles; teaching driver's education for Quad County Driving Training; maintaining the Perry County Courthouse town clock; and flying RC Airplanes (P.O.R.K.S).

Paul will be greeted in heaven by his infant child, Jennifer June Bowers, his parents William "Billy" and Bonnie Bowers, and his brothers, Gerald, Junior, and Tom Bowers.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with American Legion services at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Grace Community Church of the Nazarene, 7945 Tunnel Hill Road, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the church, with Pastor Jeff Gilkerson officiating.

Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery with graveside military services by John Tague Post #188, American Legion, New Lexington, Ohio.
