Paul Collison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home East on Jan. 30, 2026.
Paul E. Collison, 87, of Greenfield, Missouri, passed away on January 28, 2026, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Paul was born July 30, 1938, in Rogersville, Missouri, to Harry Arnold and Virginia Dean (Dobey) Collison. He spent much of his life in southwest Missouri and called Greenfield home for many years.

Paul was an outdoorsman and was most at peace in the woods or in his boat on the water. He loved mushroom hunting, deer hunting, coon hunting, and fishing. They weren't just hobbies to him - they were a way of life. Paul was generous and always willing to share his catch, providing deer and fish to family, friends, and neighbors. His generosity brought people together at multiple family and community fish fries. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Harry Collison; step-mother, Georgia Collison; mother, Virginia Mincks; step-father, Ervine Mincks; sisters, Betty J. Wixon and Barbara (and husband, Bob) Rust; brother, Jim (and wife, Lorena) Collison; and his prize coonhound, Boss.

Paul is survived by his three sons, Stephen Collison, Gary Collison, and Daryl Collison; his granddaughter, Stefanie (Collison) Gladden and her husband, Matthew; his grandson, Tristan Collison; and his great-grandchildren, Hannah and Gabriel Gladden.

Paul's memory will also be cherished by his brothers, Val Collison and wife, Janice, and Keith Collison and wife, Theresa; his sister, Dianne Mingus; his honorary "step-son," Randy Shook; and a host of nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.

Paul was a simple man who loved his family, his dogs, and the outdoors. He will be remembered for his generosity, his quiet ways, and the many meals and memories he shared with others.

Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Noon, Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole. Funeral serices will begin at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Charlie Weddle officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 5234 State Hwy EE, in Springfield.
