Mr. Compton was born on September 4th, 1943 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Milton and Lucille Compton. Mr. Compton worked as an I.T. Consultant for IBM, and served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ellijay.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Joan Marie Compton of Ellijay; daughter Michelle Marie Mack of Wilmington, Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law Ed and Lucille Compton of California City, California, Mike and Paula Compton of Savers, MS, Greg and Kathy Compton of New Martinsville, West Virginia, and Danny and Sue Compton of Pikesville, Kentucky.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 7th, 2025 from the First United Methodist Church of Ellijay with Rev. Dr. Mike Shearon officiating. Military rites will be by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
Family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the service hour of 2:00pm on Sunday, December 7th, 2025 from the Ellijay First United Methodist Church.
