Paul Daley Obituary

Paul Stephen Daley Sr., 91, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024. Born on January 3, 1933 in Central Falls, Rhode Island to Neil and Hilda Daley, Paul lived a life defined by love, faithfulness and devotion to Jesus Christ, his family, country, church and friends.
He was the fourth of five sons. After graduating from Tolman High School, he enlisted in the US Navy Reserves. After being honorably discharged in 1954 he served his country with the United States Department of Defense until his retirement in 1991. Paul married Joan Mae Goodwin of Pawtucket, Rhode Island in 1955 and enjoyed 69 years of married life together until his passing. They have three sons, eight grand children and 9 great grandchildren.
He loved sports, and passed that love on to his boys, as he would find a way to play catch, kick the soccer ball, or play football with them in the backyard after work. He also attended their many practices and games. He and Joan even traveled out of state more than once to see them play on their college teams. When grandchildren and great grandchildren came along, it would not be unusual to look up and see he and Joan walking up to the sideline, one more time, to cheer them on.
After receiving the salvation and life of the Lord Jesus as a boy, Paul gave himself to the ministry of his local Christian and Missionary Alliance church, serving, leading, chairing church building committees, organizing men's resurrection breakfasts, men's retreats, and in his later years, mentoring younger men as they followed Jesus. He loved to serve together with others. If there was a task to be done Paul would find a way to do it together with others.
He is survived by his brother Ronald Daley of California; his wife of 69 years, Joan; his son Paul Jr and daughter-in-law Donna; his son Peter and daughter-in-law Chari; and his son David.
In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Paul Stephen Daley III; Amber Coley, Megan Williams and husband Timothy Williams, Ryan Daley and wife, Michelle, Hope Talbot and husband Travis, Tess Hadley and husband Brady, and Hannah Daley; and his great grandchildren, Andrew Daley, Annelise, Kyle and Eliana Williams, Kaylee Coley, Ronan Daley; and Asher, Poppy and Taya Hadley.
A celebration of Paul's life will be held at the Altmeyer Funeral Home located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia on Saturday, December 28, 2024 beginning with visitation with the family in the Chapel at 1:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm and a reception.
A burial ceremony will be held at the Albert G. Horton Jr, Memorial Veteran's Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia in early 2025 with a date still to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate in honor of his memory to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Great Commission Fund by clicking this link.
