Paul Daniels Obituary
Daniels, who died Thursday morning, had been diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier this year.
Daniels was born Newton Edward Daniels April 6, 1938, in Middlesbrough, England. He honed his magic skills by working various clubs, and he made his television debut on the English talent show "Opportunity Knocks."
In 1979, his BBC show began, occupying a prime-time position Saturday evenings. The show aired for 15 years. Daniels was fond of saying, "You'll like this … not a lot, but you'll like it."
He is survived by his second wife, Debbie McGee, and three sons from a previous marriage, Martin, Paul and Gary.
On Twitter, Gary Daniels posted an image of a teary-eyed rabbit in a magician's tophat.
"It is with incredible sadness that I can confirm that Dad, Paul Daniels, passed away overnight," reads his tweet, which included the hashtag #PaulDaniels.

Hearing about the passing of Paul was one of the saddest days of my life.
He was my hero and I studied all of his tricks as a child to try and perfect his technique.
Paul irreplaceable both as a performer and a human being.
My heart goes out to the wonderful and beautiful Debbie.
