Paul Robert DeLay, 60, of Mashpee and formerly of Atlanta, GA and Albany, NY, passed away at home on April 23, 2024, with his family by his side.
Pursuing his love of cooking, Paul earned his Associates of Science degree in Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. He worked in several restaurants in Atlanta and most recently at The Ridge Club in Sandwich, where he truly enjoyed the camaraderie of the staff. While in Atlanta, Paul also worked as a tile installer. He became a master of his trade, working in luxury and celebrity homes throughout the area.
Friendships meant a lot to Paul, especially those he made at the Moonakiss Café, his favorite restaurant, and the Cancer Center at Cape Cod Hospital, where he received excellent care that extended the length and quality of his life. At home, he loved nothing better than making (and eating!) his renowned hickory smoked barbeque ribs for his family and friends – so delicious! No matter where he was, Paul's generous spirit, good heart, quick wit, and ever-present smile helped create lasting relationships that he treasured.
Paul is survived by his siblings: Laura Herbst of Mashpee, David DeLay of Scottsdale, AZ, and JD DeLay of Aspen, CO. He was predeceased by his parents, Emmet and June DeLay. Paul also leaves his caregivers and close friends, Maribel, Pam and Kemeal, his beloved dog, Toby, who was his constant companion and "best friend", and many other friends and relatives.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside service on Monday, April 29 at 11:30am at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Pine Street, Centerville, MA.
