Paul Richard Dessauer, 50, passed away on January 23, 2026 , in El Paso, Texas. He was born to Leonard Adam and Margaret Rita Dessauer on March 14, 1975 in Chicago Heights, Illinois, alongside his twin brother Mark Adam Dessauer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sarahi Dessauer, and his two children, Paul Richard Jr, and Norma Sarahi Dessauer. Paul was a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, and brother-in-law.

Upon graduation from Trevor B. Browne High School in Phoenix, Arizona, Paul enlisted in the United States Army, where he worked as a Military Police officer until his Honorable discharge in 2003. While stationed in Germany, Paul married his wife Sarahi Dessauer, on January 3rd, 1997, in Christiansfeld, Denmark. During this time, Paul also began to pursue his IT degree. Over the course of his Army career, Paul received many awards and accolades, some of which included the Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior United Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and many more. After the events of September 11, 2001, Paul was a part of the JTF-6 Task Force to ensure the safety of Fort Bliss. Following this, Paul worked in civil service for the Department of Defense, where he went on to aquire multiple awards and certifications

During his free time, Paul enjoyed playing the guitar, playing board games with his family, grilling the “best steaks in the world”, and caring for his beloved fish and turtle (Donatell “Boi”). Additionally, Paul started his practice of Kendo and laido at UTEP in 2013. He achieved his shodan (first level blackbelt) in Sekiguchi Ryu laido, in Araki Mujinsai Ryu laido, and Muso Shinden Eishin Ryu lai. He was very proud of his achievements, and so were his family and friends. Paul was extremely humble, caring, and funny person, and always eager to lend a listening ear. Paul supported and sacrificed countless hours of his time and energy to support his kids throughout their youth, never missing a hockey game or figure skating competition. Paul also heavily encouraged his children to pursure higher education and was extremely proud and involved in their journeys.

Paul was baptized at McCombs Baptist Church on the 29th day of October, 2023. Paul was an avid Church member and was working towards his Certification of Pastoral Leadership, which would certify him to preach the Gospel worldwide. Paul spread the gospel to anyone who would listen: friends, family, strangers, and especially his brother Mark. Paul raised his children under Christ and gifted them each a Bible, always instilling the power and importance of Christ.

Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a bright light and an overall amazing person. He will live on in all those who knew and loved him. We love you dad. A visitation is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd, 2026, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. led by Pastor Lawrence Vanley at McCombs Baptist Church, 10601 McCombs St, El Paso, TX 79924. The Committal Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd, 2026, Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso TX 79906.
