HAMILTON - Paul Russell Diller II, 92, of Hamilton, Indiana, Angola, Indiana, and Lompoc, California, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at his lake home on Hamilton Lake.
Paul was born on Aug. 25, 1933, in South Bend, Indiana, son the late Paul R. Sr., and Katherine (Grimm) Diller. He loved being from the historic Westside of South Bend during his early years.
He graduated from Central High School, South Bend, Indiana, in 1951. Paul went to Hanover College, where he was in Lamda Chi Fraternity and made lifelong friends.
Paul was proud to be a U.S. Navy veteran. He was in the Navy from 1955-1957, and was stationed in Okinawa.
After the Navy, Paul worked for American Airlines at Midway Airport before attending Michigan State University, where he received his teaching degree and met and married Martha Zee on March 19, 1963.
Paul moved to Lompoc, California, in the summer of 1963, to teach Science/Math at L.H.S. for the next 33 years. During this time, his love of travel took him to Peru, Easter Island, Tahiti, Singapore, China twice and Hong Kong, to name a few.
Paul received his master's degree from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California.
He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Angola, Indiana.
His love for music and singing lasted throughout his life. He also was a member of Pokagon Pitch Pipers Barbershop in Indiana, the Central Coast Barbershop in California, and sang in church choirs.
Surviving are his wife, Martha J. "Marty" Diller, of Lompoc, California, Angola, Indiana, and Hamilton Lake, Indiana; and sons, Scott G. (Jade Ramsey) Diller, of Lompoc, California, and Garth D. Diller, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Angola, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ for the Campaign Fund, 314 W. Maumee St., Angola, IN 46703, or to Lompoc Valley Master Chorale, P.O. Box 24, Lompoc, CA 93438.
