Paul Dixon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scott McAulay Family New Options Funeral Service on Jan. 20, 2025.
Paul John Dixon born July 13, 1946, Buffalo NY
Paul was born in Buffalo NY and grew up in Brighton,Mich with his parents and sister Deanna.
His father and an uncle served in the military and Paul had a strong desire to follow their
example. He began to apply to West Point Military Academy in his junior year of HS, continued
each year, and finally received his appointment after his second year of college. He met Wendy
during freshmen orientation week at Alma College and they dated, were engaged and married
in the Cadet Chapel on June 3,1970 a few hours following his commissioning and graduation.
Paul spent 23 years in the Army. During that time attended Naval War College in Newport RI,
getting an MS, 1 year in Korea at DMZ and became a procurement officer before he retired in
1993 as LTC Ret. He then worked for TRW/Northrup Grumman for 16 years.
Following retirement Paul was active in West Point Admissions and thrived in mentoring High
School students as they made their way to their own acceptance to a military academy.
Paul was also active in church after accepting Jesus as his personal savior in 1975. He taught
adult Sunday school, led Men's Bible Studies and volunteered in the Disability parking for many
years - enjoying the friendships he developed there.
Upon Paul's diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease in Jan 2017, he agreed to participate in a clinical
trial, willingly gave up driving, and was trusting in God for his Alzheimer's journey. He died in
Fullerton on Dec 28, 2024.
Paul is survived by his wife, Wendy (King) Dixon, children Dwayne (Hong-An Truong), Heidi
(Alex Crane) and five grandchildren; Covin, Jane, Kendra, Kara, and Xuân June. His sister,
Deanna, with whom he was close, followed him in death 2 days later.
Paul will be buried at Riverside National Cemetery on Jan 31, at 11:15am.
As flowers are limited to only three arrangements at Riverside National Cemetery the family
