Paul was warm and willing to help anyone along their path. I think of the first MPS JV boys game I ever had 4 years ago. I was fortunate to have him at R1 for the two of us. What a great dude and so passionate, and I respect him so much. Definitely a leader in how to build a legacy in Refereeing. I look to how much I have grown in this field in 4 years, and it is due to people like Paul being willing to pour into me. Much Respect and Love. Bridget

Paul was best man at my wedding back in 1980, and he was all those things mentioned in his obit and more. As a good friend and avid pool shooter he was always one of the best. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Paul was the epitome of what a high school ump or ref should be. He loved the game and he loved the kids playing the game. He tried to help the kids out with rules, technique, and even attitude. He was always transparent and willing to explain a reason for his calls. Win or lose you always s learned something about the game when Paul officiated it. I express my condolences to Paul´s family and wish his loved ones the best. He will be sorely missed.

Known Paul since my high-school days. When he worked with Curtis Robinson. Two good officials. I became a coach and he worked a few of my games..He was a great official and great guy. He'll be missed. God Bless Him.

Our condolences to the entire Eckert family.
I met Paul the summer of 1970 after moving to Oconomowoc. My brother, Ron, played baseball with Paul on the Land O´ Lakes team. Years later We lived in West Allis just 2 blocks away from The Eckerts. Our kids attended St. Aloysius Church and School as did The Eckert´s kids. Paul umped many a softball game for our Sunday night Sears team at Mitchell Park. Seemed like wherever there was a game of baseball or basketball Paul was reffing. More recently I would see Paul while shopping at Woodman´s in Waukesha. He would tell me how concerned he was about Laura´s health.
A once-in-a-lifetime guy ... A Great husband, father, grandfather ... A Great American. Fortunate to have met Paul and his family ...
